1. Liquids, Gels, and Aerosols:

One of the most commonly banned items at Dubai Airport is liquids, gels, and aerosols. These items are limited to 100ml or less per container and must be placed in a clear plastic bag. Each passenger is allowed to carry only one bag and it should be presented separately at the security checkpoint. The following items are included in this category:

  • Water and other beverages
  • Perfumes and colognes
  • Shampoos and conditioners
  • Lotions and creams
  • Sunscreen and tanning lotions
  • Hair styling gels and sprays
  • Toothpaste and mouthwash

2.  Sharp Objects:

Sharp objects are prohibited on board a flight as they can be used as weapons. This includes items such as:

  • Knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools)
  • Scissors (all types)
  • Personal grooming kit items longer than 6cm like razors and blades
  • Sporting goods (such as baseball bats, golf clubs, and hockey sticks)Any 
  • Any sharp tools, including screwdrivers, hammers, nails and drills 
  • Any sharp objects or swords 

3.  Flammable Items:

Items that are flammable or explosive are not allowed on board a flight due to the risk of fire or explosion. These items include:

  • Lighters and matches
  • Flammable liquids (such as gasoline, lighter fluid, and alcohol)
  • Aerosol sprays (such as hairspray and insect repellent)
  • Compressed gas cylinders 

4.  Electronic Devices:

Electronic devices that emit a strong electromagnetic field or can interfere with aircraft systems are prohibited on board a flight. This includes:

  • Portable electronic devices (such as laptops, tablets, and mobile phones)
  • Electronic cigarettes and vaping devices
  • Smartwatches and fitness trackers 
  • Laser guns (all types)
  • Walkie-talkie
  • Electrical cables (excluding personal use cables)
  • Lithium batteries
  • Hoverboard

 5.  Other Prohibited Items:

In addition to the above items, the following items are also prohibited on board a flight:

  • Illegal drugs and narcotics
  • Explosives, flare guns, ammunition and firearms (all types including replicas) 
  • Poisonous and toxic substances
  • Live animals (with some exceptions for service animals)
  • Handcuffs
  • Bats (all types)
  • Martial art weapons (all types)
  • Ropes (all types)
  • Packing tape
  • Measuring tape (all types)
  • Chemicals
  • Car repair parts 


It is important to note that this list is not exhaustive and other items may also be prohibited at the discretion of the airport security.
