SIM Registration Deadline
In the Philippines, owning a mobile phone is a necessity for most people. It’s not just a device for communication but it has become an integral part of our daily lives. However, with the increase in mobile phone usage, the government has implemented a SIM registration procedure to ensure that mobile phones are being used by legitimate owners and to prevent criminal activities. In this blog, we will discuss the SIM registration procedure and deadline in the Philippines.
What is SIM Registration?
SIM registration is the process of recording personal information of the SIM card owner. It is mandatory for all mobile phone users in the Philippines to register their SIM cards with their respective telecom providers. This is done to establish the identity of the owner and to prevent the use of unregistered SIM cards for criminal activities such as terrorism, kidnapping, and extortion.
SIM Registration Procedure:
The SIM registration procedure is simple and can be done in a few steps. Here are the steps to register your SIM card in the Philippines:
Step 1: For Globe and Smart go online to their official websites. For Dito download their app. Click SIM registration on the website/App. After you enter your number an OTP will be sent to your mobile.
Step 2: Fill out the SIM registration form with your personal information such as your name, address, date of birth, and contact number.
Step 3: You need to take a picture or upload a photo of your ID.
Step 4: You will be asked to take a selfie. With Dito, you will be required to hold the submitted ID during the selfie.
Step 5: Wait for the confirmation message from your telecom provider. Once you receive the confirmation message, your SIM card is now registered.
Deadline for SIM Registration:
The government has set a deadline for SIM card registration to ensure that all SIM cards are registered and accounted for. The current deadline for SIM registration is on 26 April 2023. Failure to register your SIM card before the deadline may result in the deactivation of your SIM card. The deadline is based on the law so it cannot be extended according to DICT and NTC.
SIM card registration is mandatory for all mobile phone users in the Philippines. The procedure is simple and can be done in a few steps. It is important to register your SIM card before the deadline to avoid the deactivation of your SIM card. This is a necessary measure to prevent the use of unregistered SIM cards for criminal activities and to ensure the safety and security of the public.
