Philippine Independence Day in Dubai

The 119th Philippine Independence Day was celebrated in Dubai World Trade Centre last 12 May 2017, one month earlier since the actual date June 12 falls during Ramadan this year.  Activities included on-the-spot painting contest, Pinoy Hair Style showdown, Original Pinoy Music (OPM) singing competition, Battle of the Bands and a pageant for Mr. and Miss Teen Philippine Independence Day.  Rannie Raymundo and Filipino rock band Nexxus performed during the event.

There was also a job fair organized by FilClub, a non-profit group based in Dubai, and an expo featuring businesses, restaurants and shops owned by Filipinos.  One of the highlights of the day was the raffle draw of airline tickets to Philippines for 20 lucky participants.

In the Philippines, you can feel the spirit of celebration all over.  Malls are decorated with flags and tv shows feature various independence day themes like hosts wearing the national costume.
