Affidavit of support salary requirement increased to AED10,000

Pinoy expats in UAE need at least AED10,000 monthly salary to get an affidavit of support for their visiting family members according to a new policy implemented by the Philippine government starting 24 August 2020.  The previous salary requirement was AED3,500 only.

A single expat needs AED10,000 monthly income. For a married couple, a combined income of AED14,000 is required. A family of four - either a husband and wife with two children or a single parent with three children - can present a total income of Dh18,000.

Expats sign the affidavit as a guarantee that they can support their relatives during their visit in the UAE. The visiting relatives need to present the document to immigration officials in Manila prior to boarding.

The affidavit of support can be issued only for parents, spouse, children, grandparents, siblings, grandchildren and in-laws.

The new requirement has received different reactions from expats as most will not be qualified due to the high salary requirement.  This is implemented to prevent human trafficking and illegal recruitment.
